Great Katana for the price. I like it, I wouldn't use it as a first line of defense in a battle but, I think it could hold it own due to the way it's built and the craftsmanship.

This is my third katana and I instantly love this one the most. It is heavier than the others but the balance makes it feel perfect. All the fittings are tight and beautiful. The scabbard fits tightly too(actually too tight, but it will loosen over time). It arrived with light oil on it, but I found 1 spot of rust(about 2mm long by .25mm wide - tiny) that I will sand off before I sharpen. Oh yeah, it has an edge but I wouldn't call it sharp. It wouldn't pass the paper test out of the box, which is fine by me because I like to sharpen by blade myself. Looks like the images. I would have liked if it had come with a certificate about its HRC rating. Came with a blue cloth cover bag. I planned to take off the handle and give the blade a black satin rustoleum coat, but it is so beautiful I'm not sure if I will now.

One of the strongest blades I won that isn't truly Damascus steel, but is very close to the strength of such. This blade has a good weight to it, which makes it very easy to cut through many things given it has a sharp edge, which mine does. The design and construction are marvelous and I would definitely give this blade some consideration if you are looking for a good sword.

I grew up Hawaii a mostly Asian culture and I have wanted a great Katana for about 24 years. I have been to Japan, South Korea and China. I have looked at many shops and I have always found cheap swords that weren't worth the time or money. This sword on the other hand, is worth every dime. It is solid, well made, and I am proud to have this in my house. I'm not hating on any other brand, I have just found this sword to be worth the price. Also the artwork done on all of the prieces of this katana are crafted well. I have already ordered a wakazashi and Tanto from Ryumon to have a complete set. I know I will not be disappointed.

i just got this sword today the shipping was early by a day and the boxing was good and it came with a stand and belt. the craftsmanship of the blade was great and it feels like it could put some real damage out. its worth the money in my opinion. the tsuka was fit for either one or two hand wielding and the blade was almost razor sharp.

This katana was everything I hoped for and more, it arrived on time and in excellent condition. My only complaint is that it says china on the brass plate(I forget the name, the one between the tsuba and the habaki)but that can easily be replaced. I would definitely buy from this seller again. Had a very small rust spot. Not a big deal. It came off with 1,000 grit. Almost with the 3,000 grit Japanese Whetstone. Very happy for the price. $300.00 for a $600.00 Katana. Very sturdy, and thick. My girlfriend bought this sword for me for Christmas but let me sneak a peak early. Katana is well built with a very strong blade. Very sturdy construction, the only thing I was disappointed in was the fact mine was not very sharp out of the box, and because of the finish on the blade I am concerned about sharpening it myself. For the price I don't think you can get a better Samurai sword. Normally I collect fantasy swords or medieval time swords but I do have a few katana's and this one is great. While its not my best one for the price, its of great quality. It is sharp so it should not be played with as someone can get seriously injured but that should be common knowledge when dealing with swords. And this is a real sword.

this is a great looking sword and based on the sword alone it was good. Mine got damaged in shipping because the box it was shipped in was too small, so the hilt end is "rubbed" and the blade is very difficult to get out of the scabbard. I hope that they can fix this for me. If they can, then i'd change this to a 5 star. :)

I bought the sword for my husband as a gift. He loved all the detail of the sword. I live in an apartment and driver from UPS threw the package in my balcony. Looked at reviews and other swords(like the one that comes with 3 and stand) and decided to get this one. BEST decision!! This sword is beautiful and well made and when you hold it in your hands you know where that extra money went. When I swing it around and pretend to slay zombies or intruders or whatever I know that the sword wont fly out of the handle. This is a sturdy katana, thicker than most blades used for tatami cutting. It is alo heavier and takes some practice to get used to, but when you are used to it, it slices through tatami mats like it is air! Very happy with it, so far no bend in it, while thinner blade katanas in use need work when hitting tatami the wrong way.

I purchased this along with several other swords. Bottomline: you can really hurt someone or yourself with this weapon. However, if you plan on doing some sword battle with a couple of Samurai...you will definitely need either a better sword, or a 30 yard head start. But do not believe reviews that criticize this sword and it's sharpness or capabilities to do harm. It's sharp enough and will give even a novice an opportunity to train with something decent. If you want more "authenticity", you're going to have to reach into your wallet and pay a heck of a lot more.

This is my first sword. It came in perfect condition. The handle and wrapping were tight. The blade was very nice with no defects. The sword has a good edge but needed some final sharpening to slice stuff up. I filled a plastic bottle with water and it busted/cut it some and knocked it into the bushes. I sharpened it a little and re-tried my test. It sliced through with so little resistance it was a little scary. This thing is ready to go now. I also waxed the scabbard and it really made it shine. If its as tough as the videos show...its a keeper. I also bought a bokken to practice with.....which was a good call because a mistake might cost me some stitches or worse. :D

Traditional katana collectors may be put off by the lack of a hamon. But don't be fooled. A hamon is not necessary with the purity and heat treatment of the modern steel. It will resist chipping better than a traditional katana as well as take more abuse from flexing pressure. Hamons have disadvantages as well and should not be there if the the reasons for having them are non-existent.

I am very impressed with this sword. The craftsmanship on the handle and hilt are very strong. It came sharpened, but not super sharp, it does come with a layer of grease to prevent rusting, Which is white. The entire construction is sturdy and has a great feel to it. I don't know if it's just an imprinted coloring on the blade or not. But I will say if it turns out to be a plain carbon steel blade, it still is worth way more then paid .

Top heavy, but I tell you if anybody comes into your house Late at night and, you break that sword out he'll be running out there in two seconds. You have to keep it oiled when storing it For long periods of time or it will rust.

I haven't tested this sword yet, but it seem like the craftsmanship is very nice and durable for intermediate price tag. Im satisfied with this purchased and I'm happy that I have a decent katana sword for my first time collection..I would recommend this to anyone interested for 1st time sword buyer who can't afford the handmade Japanese sword.

I purchased this Katana to protect myself from zombies. You can imagine my disappointment when shipping was so slow that zombies had killed my whole family before it finally got to me. However, when it finally got here I was very impressed with the attention to detail. It is very sharp and light weight. The colors are beautiful. I have already used it to kill 7 zombies. One of which was the UPS man who had me sign for it. I didn't get a good look at him before I struck, but he appears to have turned back into a human after my fatal blow. I am currently hiding in a window well and spying on the zombies to learn their ways. When the time is right, I will strike. 5/5 would buy again!

Full tang Authentic everything including beautiful hamon! I would recommend this blade to anyone looking for a cheap but well made and truly battle ready. I have put this blade through hell and back and it still looks amazing. However I have polished and sharpened along the way I have had this blade for about a year now and it is my favorite. This blade could match just about anything you see a warrior class cold steel katana do. the only thing better than this blade is one that has been deferentially hardened for authenticity but as durability is concerned for most people mono steel is fine, when made of high carbon steel.

This sword is better than what I expected. Solid construction, no loose parts, sharp, no scratches or nicks. The sword itself is beautiful. They did all the customization I wanted, and got here a week earlier then stated. Overall great experience with buyer, and I am more than happy with this product.

Wasn't expecting much at this price point but the katana delivered was very nice, pommel, tsuba, wrapping all very tight,the blade looked gorgeous as well as functional,way more sword than I need at my skill level (which is zero). This thing is great. I bought this for my friends wife. I got him a full size boken and did not want her to feel left out. They are pretty near indestuctable. I recommend them as training tools for martial artists.

This is perfect. Its made with nice strong damascus steel. They didn't over do it on the oil they put on the blade its not to heavy, and its well balanced. Its a high quality sword for an affordable price.
